Pre-employment Screening
Pre-employment screens assess a person’s capacity to efficiently and safely meet the physical requirements of a work role. While designed to establish the current physical status of the worker, pre-employment screens are also utilised to identify areas in which additional training may be required prior to the worker commencing a job. Pre-employment screening acts to:
- Ensure the safety of workers on the job
- Reduce risk of work place injuries
- Increase efficiency of recruitment by ensuring workers meet physical requirements of the job
- Assess suitability for high risk and physically demanding jobs
At Healthrise, pre-employment screens are developed and customised to assess the specific requirements of individual work roles. Assessment items may include:
- Cardiovascular fitness and endurance
- Postural tolerances – standing, sitting, stooping, kneeling, squatting, overhead reaching etc
- Manual Handling
- Safe maximal lifting capacities – transfer and carry of a load
- Medical history and work injury history
- Flexibility
- Range of motion
- Blood Pressure and Heart Rate
Throughout the assessment process physiological responses to the demands of the work tasks are carefully monitored to ensure client safety. To complete a pre-employment screen, a time frame between one to three hours is required, depending on the degree of detail required.
